The venue

Blackrock GAA

Blackrock National Hurling Club, also known as “The Rockies”, is located on the southside of Cork City. The club was founded in 1883, one year before the foundation of the Gaelic Athletic Association itself. It is therefore the oldest hurling club in Cork. The club is primarily concerned with the game of hurling, which is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland’s native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie (camógaíocht), which shares a common Gaelic root.

The dance floor

With a fabulous wooden floor of 100 msq with direct access to the bar area we will be able to spread around during the workshops and dance the night away at the milongas until our feet hurt.

As an added bonus this year we will have small tables around the dance floor so you sit can relax in between tandas or watch other dancers, replicating the set up that you might find at a Buenos Aires’ milonga.
